I watched my friend use one of these on a recent fishing trip. He easily casted this reel into the wind and never had a single issue with backlash but still got pretty good distance throwing baits. I ordered one which came in yesterday and I rigged it up with some braid and took it out to one of the local ponds in the neighborhood. I said the reel as I normally would any of my reels where the bait would barely fall and began to cast. Nice smooth long cast without any backlash. So then I set it where the bait would fall at a very fast pace. Normally setting any reel like that and chunking it ends up with me and a bird nest. Not this time, the cast for even farther and as soon as that bait touched the water it would stop. Then I moved to the other side of the pond and began to cast it into the wind. It wasnβt a strong wind maybe 5 to 8 but I continue to get a really good distance and as soon as the boat hit the water the spool stopped. So far so good with this one. Taking it on a little trip Iβm going on this weekend hopefully I will catch something on the reel and give it a work out.

I really love this reel! Had to give it a ding in the star rating though. The spool cover comes off so easily! thought that I lost it once, but it dropped at the edge of the pond, so I found it. Used a spot of glue to keep the cover on, really don’t think that I should have to do that on a quality reel + for what I paid.On the good side…..Boy, this reel can cast far! and accurate!! I have several Lews. But this Curado is my preferred reel!!

While not perfect, this reel is a welcomed addition to my collection. Best caster I have owned overall. Still gives an occasional birds nest but not as often as others. Just have to dial it in. The price is a bit much and not sure that I would spend that much again when I can still do good with a little cheaper. But having said that, it is an awesome reel. I have to give credit where credit is due.

You get more than what you pay for. Iβm a novice with a baitcaster but with this reel I cast like a pro. Itβs almost not fair to those that learned on traditional baitcasters. I also have a lews baitcaster but find myself reaching for this one first.

This is only my second bait caster but I am hooked. I’ve never used a bait caster because my friends all say the same thing. Don’t waist your time or money, they’re too hard to use. I recently started with a Penn Fathom Lever Drag 2. 40N….Very easy and fun to use so I pulled the trigger on this DC Bait Caster. I’m glad I did. This thing is a CHAMP. I still get some back lash but nothing I haven’t been able to “un-lash”. I have a hard time in cramped area’s where there are a lot of trees. Seems to me that I need some open space to get the best use out of this reel. Make no mistake about it though. This thing will send a light lure a lot further than a spinning reel will. I haven’t mastered this reel yet and I still get some snags and a few back lashes here and there but it’s actually worth it. I’m very new to bait casters and I’m casting pretty good. My son, who taught me how to use a bait caster, can’t believe how well I’m doing. He wants one now. His birthday is coming up too. I’ve used this rod on 3 different occasions for a total of about 20 hours and I have been experimenting with it quit a bit. On the third day I caught 12 bass on a Roaster Tail. This seems to reel in a lot faster than the spinning reels that I’m used too. So I had to slow it down a bit. I still use my spinner for tight places but this DC is my go to now. Once I have it set I don’t need to mess with it much. I’m currently using 20lb braided line but I think I’m going to go up to 30 lb. I’ve been told it will cast even further with that. I will definitely buy another.

I didnβt expect how good this is

100% worth the money. I havenβt tried the SLX DC, which is about 80$ cheaper, but from my experience with this reel, and speaking with others with experience on both the Curado DC and the SLX DC, everyone I know has said that the Curado DC comes out on top.It is a little bit heavier than your average baitcast reel, however, even though I have small hands, itβs still very comfortable. And thankfully, it casts mono and fluoro like a dream. Iβve been leaning towards using strictly braid for my baitcasters, because I can never find the right mono or fluoro to use that isnβt stiff, but with this reel you donβt need to worry about line stiffness. Iβve casted 15 pound bass pro shops brand mono as hard as I could on setting 2, and I didnβt even get a HINT of backlash. The same line, on the Lewβs Mach II, backlashed like crazy.Thereβs so much more I could say about this reel, like itβs ability to skip baits without backlash, casting into the wind with ease, etc. but Iβll spare you the details. All in all, I can just about guarantee youβll love this reel, if you choose to buy one.
