Iโm a 63 year old who loves the outdoors and wanted the best, multi-day/weekend, highly functional and durable backpack within reasonable cost. Iโm not doing thru-hikes so a heavier but durable pack was my goal. 2021 brought the new Aether 65 vs the older Atmos 65, both of which were my leading candidates. I settled on the older Atmos 65 because of the very positive YouTube reviews and the fantastic price just recently posted on Amazon in February, 2021….$239.00 brand new! My Atmos came today and to my surprise, it DID come with an included rainfly! Note that rain flyโs do not normally come with the Atmoses? The medium is a 65 liter pack weighing in at 4.56 lbs, so itโs no ultralight. But hereโs why I settled on the Atmos 65:1. Anti-Gravity suspension/harness system – makes it feel like youโre carrying less weight than you actually are.2. Durable & Flawless construction – heavy duty quality zippers, durable outer material, and overall build (like a tank!)3. Great pockets & just the right amount of storage – 2 external storage pockets on the front of the pack is a winner! Also, trekking pole and dual ice axe lashings.4. Dual side pockets are large/deep enough to fit a full-sized, Grayl water filter flask.5. Removable brain and integral weather flap.6. Included rain fly & dedicated rain fly pocket. – You can also use this pocket for other item storage while stashing the rain fly somewhere else if you wish.7. The high vis, neon green interior provides great contrast when looking for items in low-light conditions.8. Ospreyโs Almighty guarantee, lifetime warranty – 2nd to none! Conclusion: Although an older design, it is a proven pack with hundreds of satisfied users. It is a highly durable pack which will no doubt, stand the test of time. This is the best multi-day backpack, ever, imho!

For the money I was expecting to be able to fit more in there. When you put a full water bag in the main compartment it reduces the amount of volume for other things. The bed roll straps are a bit short and if it rains the waterproof cover sold separately will not cover your bed roll. I wound up having to carry my bedroll by hand in the rain as the straps are hidden by the cover. I guess it’s ok if the bedroll get’s soaked (sarcasm). Furthermore with the rain cover on it is difficult to get the pack on as you need to thread your arms through the straps but not get hung up in the waterproof cover. If you are by yourself this can be a bit of a challenge. It can also be difficult to get the side strap compartments to unfold with the rain cover on. I wound up just foregoing using the waist belt when it was raining. I personally would recommend a poncho that will cover the whole setup if you expect to encounter rain. You’ll be more comfortable and all your stuff will remain dry.The plus side is that this was a very comfortable pack to wear when dry and my shoulders never became too sore over the course of the day. It was easy to control comfort by alternately tightening and loosening the waist belt so that the hips take more or less of the load.

Great comfortable, light pack. The anti-gravity suspension system works and breathes well. Occasional squeaking but nothing particularly noteworthy. Abundant space to overpack, so I need to check myself with a scale. Love the fact the top is detachable, but do consider if opting to leave it at home that the packโs folded-up rain cover lives there. This pack travels as well as you pack it. The first trip I took felt awful because I had the weight distributed all wrong– heavy stuff (tent) hanging off the bottom, stuff strapped to the outside, and 1.5L nalgenes stuffed into the side pockets. After shedding an unnecessary 15 lbs and redistributing the load, my joy factor doubled.WARNING: I have a 33/34″ waist. The belt is actually TOO BIG for me on the Large sized pack. I’m going to need to gain some weight, lolz, or find a way to buffer my hips. Two days into a backpacking trip, and the Atmos AG 65 was slipping down my backside. Really think things through carefully if you’re on the M / L sizing boundary.Caveat: Last backpack I purchased was an early 1980’s Jansport external frame model… when I was a pre-teen.

Just received it. I read many reviews on backpacks and this one fit my needs. I am packing it for a long weekend trip and it will handle everything I need to pack. I love how it fits. I hope I feel the same after the trip! After the long weekender, I am planning a week-long trip.

Decided to upgrade my pack for year 2 on the Appalachian Trail and this pack was amazing! Felt like it was half the weight of my previous pack. Very durable, there is a reason Osprey is considered top of the line. Didnt realize it when I bought it but the lifetime warranty is very comforting to know too. Would absolutely purchase again!

If your thinking about it, Don’t think just buy it. This is THE Pack for everything, and it does it all extremely well. It is beyond comfortable, form fitting and can carry everything you would possibly need. Ive had this pack for a little over 3 years and have had Zero issues with it. Highly recommenced! Get them before they are gone, Osprey has discontinued this model for some unknown/Stupid reason. Why you discontinue your best product is beyond me. Bring it back, and with more color/custom options! Id buy three just on principle.
