I am an avid hiker, backpacker, and camper, and am a fan of Osprey’s products. They have an excellent warranty and satisfaction guarantee. In fact, their treatment of their customers is one of the reasons for why I switched away from Gregory.I purchased this HydraJet 12 pack for my toddler son as he loves to hike with me. What makes this useful for him than all the other packs I have? Mainly, the bucket style main compartment that opens wide enough where he does not have to struggle through putting things in or getting them out.PROS- Osprey satisfaction guarantee and customer service- Bucket style main compartment- 1.5L hydration reservoir included- Mesh back to help keep you stay a bit more dry and ventilated- Magnet on the chest strap to help keep the hydration mouth piece within reach and secure- Hydration sleeve to route the hose through- Stretch mesh for stashing bulkier items like a jacket- Built-in whistle (in the chest strap)- Lots of web loops at the front to attach things to via carabiners- The “12” in HydraJet 12 indicates the total volume the pack can hold: 12 litersCONS- A bit pricey compared to Camelbak packs, but none really come with the feature set offered by this pack- No stabilizing waist band or hip pocket- No built-in rain cover. Bring a trash bag with you in case it rains to help keep the pack dryThis pack, once again, underscores why I have switched to Osprey (despite their higher price) for their quality, customer service, and product design. I highly recommend it. This pack is designed for children 4-12.

We love to be out and about, and given that we live where it’s hot, hydration is very important. My husband has several Camel bags, but I had no idea there was a similar option for children. This is scaled to a pretty perfect size for a younger child (I’m thinking 9-10 and under). It’s a well-made pack with some fantastic features. I really appreciate the larger zipper pulls that are very easy for little fingers to grab on to to operate. The mesh used is a great quality and not that scratchy stuff you often get. There are 3 main pockets, one being the pocket for the water pouch. The opening for that is right under the top of the straps. It’s difficult to get the pouch out for filling, drying, cleaning. The issues with drying/cleaning is pretty much universal to this type of bag/pouch, unfortunately.Honestly, I’d almost rather just pack regular bottles in a pack, as they are easier to fill and clean. However, if your family is really serious about hiking, it will be nice not having to stop and fart around with having to take a bottle out of a pack, drink, and replace it.

This pack arrived just in time for the summer. My 6-year old son loves the water bladder and we love the fit of the pack. It has quality construction and we are looking forward to years of service.

Came used and the hydration bag was used and full of soapy water. There are teeth marks on the bite valve. Definitely a return and no mention on the page of selling used gear. Gross and unsanitary. The backpack looks great and I am waiting for the new one to be shipped and then give it possibly a better rating. Not happy about getting a soapy chewer on hydration system.UPDATE: seller sent a new one and the mouth piece was wrapped in plastic and was brand new. No hassle on replacement. Back pack is excellent.

The perfect size and weight for my very tall 5yr old. He feels like a real hiker just like mom and dad now! We also love that heโs carrying a portion of his own water now too!

Everything is awesome about this pack, expect the bite values which is not resilient! You will need to buy replacements immediately, our 6year old chewed it up on first day of camp. Step it up Ospray!! Since this is designed for kids and the price of the backpack, you should include either a better quality bite part or spares with the pack

This bag fit well on my 5 year old son who is 42โ, 39 Lbs. 12L size seems to fit the bladder, a spare change of clothes, snacks and a sweater comfortably.Being an Osprey brand, the quality is superb, with zippers being smooth, straps adjust easily, and the fit was comfy.I went for a different brand with a waist strap since this Osprey only has shoulder straps, and we noticed that it slid around as he jumps and climbs on everything. The 50 ml bladder is a great size for him, but Iโm not a fan of the โfold overโ flaps and sliders. I really like the Gregory 3D style, and hope osprey will eventually come out with an updated bladder system.
