I grew up with gas-powered camping lanterns, which are very bright and have a comfortable tint (light color). But of course I understand that they’re heavy, dangerous, and messy, so it makes sense to move toward battery-powered LEDs. However, while it seems like there are lots of options now for good-quality home LED lighting, and good-quality LED flashlights, it seems like most battery lanterns are pretty pitiful. They’re either too dim, too bulky, reflect the light in the wrong place, don’t have good placement/hanging options, or use inconvenient non-rechargeable batteries (D cells?). I know there are ways to deal with or work around some of those issues. But one of my biggest complaints is that so many battery lanterns put off an awful blue tint. Not at all the warm, comfortable glow of firelight or even classic gas lanternlight! This lantern finally solves all those issues and more.It is extremely versatile, with many options for brightness levels, adjustable light color tint, checking battery levels, etc., all done using the single side switch. This brings me to my only complaint – there are far too many features for someone to remember if they only use the light once in a while. It would help to have some short list of instructions printed on the body, or a simplified instruction sheet stored inside the light. I just know I won’t be able to remember all the features and modes, and I’m someone who’s generally a flashlight nerd! Family members who just want a lantern to turn on and off will definitely be lost and probably frustrated if they accidentally activate some obscure battery check mode.Charging is convenient with the built-in USB, but note that some cheaper cables apparently don’t work – just like with newer phones, you need a good-quality cable. The threaded tripod mount holes are useful for some pre-planned lighting situations, or many types of permanent mounts, and they don’t get in the way for more general camping use.Overall this is an incredibly well-thought-out, durable, high-quality piece of equipment. It’s a relief to finally have a very nice lantern that shines a pleasant warm-tinted light!

This is one of those things that was designed on paper and brought to Market without a whole lot of feedback from the public I guess. There are major irritations with the configuration of the plug-in. It is directly opposite the button which leads you to have numerous challenges. The plug for the USB feels a lot like the button so you’re always hitting the wrong one if you’re not looking at it. And you mash it and you mash it. Also then you cannot set the darn thing up against the wall it stands out a good or at least 3 in from the wall which you don’t want to happen on a table, you want the table space. If turn it sideways so that it’s flush to the wall you’re turning its plug-in socket parallel to the wall now you can’t see it’s charging light anymore as often as not. The charging port needs to be at 90ยฐ to the light button. Period. It is way too heavy to finagle a magnet on it but if you had one strong enough you couldn’t put it on there anyway on the bottom because of the hole in the bottom – you would cover it up. The hanger at the top of it flops down it is not held stringent by any kind of friction anywhere. When you reach up and pull it off of whatever you hung it on, if you even can because it flops into whatever hook or crevice, it falls down and you can’t put it back up there without standing up using two hands, holding its hanging ring with one hand and the light with the other, and hooking it back up that way. If you don’t need or don’t want it shining 360 there’s no reason that it shouldn’t have a shroud on it that can be rotated and reflect the light more in one direction making use of a mirrored surface and saving half of your battery usage. That would be done with something that just clips on the outside of it and rotates, around a manufactured groove close to its head just like your EDC can do if you want to rotate that clip. The quality of the ambiance and range of light from I know they say 2,700k but it’s not that low it’s really 2,800 I know I have a good deal of experience with these things and I have nictalopia which makes me pay special attention to color rendering index. So bottom line I would not buy another one but I do not regret this purchase at all. It’s got a lot of whiz-bang features that you’ll never use candlelight strobes special sequences for battery level that much is useful. if you ever needed SOS you would have to go back to the house to get the operating manual to go through 28 functions or whatever it is. All of the 18650s I have will not fit in this light because these batteries are just a little bit shorter, that’s actually noted but pay attention for potential additional purchases, right there at the site it says it. But it does charge very quickly if you don’t let it go that low at least very quickly considering the volume of batteries involved. So it is a very unique light there’s nothing like it on the market. Some of the other guys will come along and copy many of its features. Someday soon they will start including additional heads for their edc’s to handle the various light tones needed for whatever application. This light is very useful working on wiring harnesses where you need to be able to tell the subtle differences between the dark green and the blue for example which is not likely to happen with just a stone cold fluorescent type blue white old school beam. You will pull out a cigarette lighter to get that done. I’ve had this for less than a month so maybe it will grow to be my ultimate favorite after I get over my own persnickety crotchety proclivities?

I love the lantern. Never thought I could enjoy something like a light so much, but here I am.Pros: Lasts forever, charges fast, love the color temperature and spread, handy socket for a magnetic mount (purchased separately)… And the features, can’t go wrong with more the better imo.Cons: only thing I can think of is that it’s heavy but I’d still choose to take it on a hiking/camping trip.I’m not usually one to leave a review, even just to give a certain star rating, but this thing deserves the praise. Highly recommend.

Small, solid and works well, but complicated to use. Also seems overpriced for what it is.

This is really a great unit. Smaller than I expected, and it did a great job of throwing light. We took this cabin camping in a very dark area in the wilderness. It was very handy for all sorts of uses. The dimming settings worked great. If there was one thing I didnโt like, itโs that I donโt always want the power button flashing. If locked out (for example for when in luggage), the power button still blinks on and off. I found that a slight turn of the body removed contact so this wasnโt an issue. Use of the plastic spacer might be even better.Overall we are very happy with the quality, construction, and performance of this light. Time will tell how it lasts but I donโt see an issue.
