   Great atc! If you are looking for a carabineer to fit the loop on the front for descending in an auto lock repel set up, the Black Diamond LiteForge Screwgate Carabiner is a great option.

   I use it for rappeling and belayingI smashed against a rock on this ATC on my harness, and it survived (but it’s scratched).Great ATC but…buy a silver one

   Bought this to replace a cheaper/lower quality ATC that I’ve been running for a couple years. I use this with 40 ft of 10.2mm Maxim static rope and it’s been nothing short of excellent. It grips hard when you need it to and lets out rope very smoothly as it’s designed to.The main reason I upgraded was to streamline my rappelling setup while remaining as safe as possible. The big loop on the side of it was what sold me. After I hook my rope, which is also my tether, into the ATC and connect it to my bridge, I keep tension on the ATC and move my main prusik carabiner from my bridge to the big loop on the ATC before I rappel. This way, I only have one carabiner on my amsteel bridge and still have an autoblocking device above the ATC for safety.If you’re considering an ATC for saddle hunting, this is the one!

   This device allows me to cut a tree limb, redirect it to an adjacent part of the tree, and then lower the limb to the ground. Rather than belaying a lead climber, this device allows me to control the descent of a cut limb. Of course, much tree work is done by commercial arborists. But the solo tree climber/trimmer can appreciate this device. It’s light and easy to use.

   Black Diamond guide ATC is surely a quality product. I plan to use this device for saddle hunting and climbing SRT. I’m currently rappelling with a regular ATC, but the guide version does so much more….I need to learn just how versatile it is.bfriendly
